Coal handling falls 9.37% m-o-m at Haldia Dock in Dec

January 31: Coal handling by Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust fell 9.37% in December 2013 to 793,000 tons compared to 875,000 tons in November 2013, a senior official of the Kolkata Port Trust told ICMW.
Of the total handling in December 2013, domestic coal accounted for 161,000 tons while the remaining 632,000 tons were imported coal, both coking (422,000 tons) and non-coking (210,000 tons), he said.
He further said that in December 2012, the dock had handled a total of 666,000 tons of coal.
Total coal handled by the port during the first nine months of 2013-14 stood at 7,573,000 tons compared to 6,393,000 tons handled during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
