Coal handling falls 9.62% at V.O. Chidambaranar port in August

September 25: Handling of coal at V.O. Chidambaranar port stood at 992,470 tons during the month of August 2013 down 9.62% compared to 1,098,117 tons handled during July, a senior port official told ICMW on September 25.
During August 2012, coal handling stood at 560,000 tons.

During the first five months (April-August) of the current financial year of 2013-14, total coal handled at the port stood at 5,269,983 tons whereas the figure was at 4,130,142 tons during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
