Coal handling nudges up 0.15% m-o-m at Haldia Dock in Oct

November 29: Coal handling by Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust rose 0.15% in October 2013 to 652,000 tons compared to 651,000 tons in September 2013, a senior official of the Kolkata Port Trust told ICMW.

Of the total handling in October 2013, domestic coal accounted for 89,000 tons while the remaining 563,000 tons were imported coal, both coking (377,000 tons) and non-coking (186,000 tons), he said.

He further said that in October 2012, the dock had handled a total of 506,000 tons of coal.

Total coal handled by the port during the first seven months of 2013-14 stood at 5,905,000 tons compared to 5,058,000 tons handled during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
