Coal production in The U.S. for the week ending October 17 declined for the second straight week

United States the world’s second largest coal producer has produced approximately totaled an estimated 16.6 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended October 17, 2015), EIA said in its latest report.
According to EIA’s latest report, this production estimate is 2.8% lower than last week's estimate and 12.2% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2014.
East of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 6.5 mmst (down 2.98 per cent week over week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 10.1 mmst (down 2.8 per cent week over week) , according to weekly figures released by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA), on October 22, 2015.
U.S. year-to-date (as of October 17, 2015) coal production totaled an estimated 725.0 mmst, 8.6% lower than lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2014.
