Coal receipts by power plants during Apr-Oct up 10%

December 02: The coal receipt by power plants monitored by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) during the period April-October 2014 increased by 10%, an official of power ministry said.

“During the current year (April-October, 2014), the coal receipt was 303.75 million tons (mt) against the coal receipt of 276.2 mt during the corresponding period of last year, showing a growth of about 10% in supply of coal to the power plants,” the official said.

However, despite increase in coal supplies as many as 26 plants out of 103 monitored by CEA were having a coal stock of less than four days as on November 23, 2014,  the official added.
