03 Jul 2015
In an important development in the coalgate scam probe, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered five fresh cases against private firms based in Maharashtra, Jharkh-and, Delhi, Kolkata and Chattisgarh as part of its investigations into the allocation of captive blocks.
Sources said, “The ED has register cases on the basis of recent FIRs filed by the CBI against five private firms, including a Maharashtra-based Ayurv-edic medicine manufacturer”. The agency has booked a Delhi-based private firm for the alleged irregularities in the allocation of “Hutar Sector”, Hurilong’ captive coal block in Jhark-hand. The ED has so far registered around 43 cases since September 2012 in its probe into alleged irregularities in allocation of coal blocks between 1993 to 2011.
Sources said, “The ED has booked the Maharash-tra-based ayurvedic medicine manufacturer firm for the alleged irregularities in the allocation of Bh-andak (West) captive coal block in Wardha Valley in Maharashtra”.
Investigations revealed that the private firm was not engaged in the business of production of steel, cement and power when it had applied for the allocation of the coal block.
