The CBI on Tuesday told the apex court that there was no need of prior sanction from government to investigate top bureaucrats in cases where the court was monitoring the probe. 

 

CBI said if prior sanction was required to investigate top bureaucrats in court-monitored probe, it would amount to suspension of court's monitoring of the investigation. 

 

The investigating agency also filed the status report in the coal scam probe to the court in a sealed cover.
