October 31: Coal stocks at 103 thermal power plants (TPS) in India rose by almost 8.18% as on October 28 compared to that recorded on October 15, 2014, mainly due to slightly improved supplies of imported as well as domestic coals from Coal India Ltd (CIL), according to data released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Coal stocks at the 103 TPS stood at 7.68 million tons (mt) on October 28, up from 7.099 mt recorded on October 15, 2014, data showed.

However, compared to 8.299 mt of coal stocks recorded a month ago on September 29 at 104 power plants, coal stocks at the 103 power plants as on October 28 are found to have decreased by 7.46%.

However, in terms of days, coal stocks stood at 5 days on October 28, October 15 as well as on September 29, data revealed.
