Imports of gypsum via Cochin Port were down 76.28% to 162 tons in May 2016, compared to 683 tons imported in the previous month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Moreover, imports of the material via the port in April 2016 were down 75.38% year-on-year against 658 tons seen in May 2015.
Likewise, gypsum imported by the port in the first 2 months (April-May) of financial year 2016-17 were down 24.06% to 846 tons compared to 1,114 tons handled during the same period of 2015-16.

During May 2016, the entire 162 tons came from UAE in a price range of Rs 3,414-Rs 13,514 ($50-$202) per ton.
During April 2016, 162 tons came from Iran in a price range of Rs 4,327-Rs 4,964 ($65-$74) per ton, 510 tons from the UAE at a price range of Rs 3,171-Rs 5,309 ($47-$79) per ton and 11 tons from Germany at Rs 59,454-Rs 91,162 ($889-$1,363) per ton.
