Gypsum imports via Cochin Port stood at 956 tons during February 2016, showing an increase of 55.19% against 616 tons imported in January 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Meanwhile, gypsum imports through this port during the first 11 months (April- February) of 2015-16 were at 6,199 tons, resulting in a rise of 18.80% against 5,218 tons imported during the same period in 2014-15.
However, 667 tons of gypsum were imported via the port in February 2015.

During February 2016, 376 tons came from Iran in a price range of Rs 4,710-Rs 5,048 ($69-$74) per ton, 553 tons from the UAE at a price range of Rs 4,894-Rs 9,672 ($71-$141) per ton and 27 tons from the Oman at a price of Rs 4,541($66) per ton.
During January 2016, the entire imported quantity of 27 tons came from China at a unit price of Rs 18.053 ($268) per ton.
