Cochin limestone imports drop 49% in 2014-15

April 28: Imports of limestone through the port of New Mangalore dropped 49.46% to 29,743 tons during financial year 2014-15 against 58,853 tons during 2013-14, as per provisional information available with ISMW.

There were 140 tons limestone imported in March, 2015 though there were no imports registered in the previous two months via the port.

A volume of 300 tons of limestone was imported via New Mangalore Port in March 2014.

The following table shows month wise details of limestone import via New Mangalore port in the FY 2013-14 & FY 2014-15:

In March, entire import of 140 tons of limestone powder came from Vietnam at a unit price of Rs 6,923 ($110) per ton.
