Coking coal imported via Ennore in Jan after long gap

After a long gap, Ennore Port has seen coking coal imports. In January 2016, a hefty volume of 75,027 tons came in, as per information available with ICMW.
It may be recalled that there had been no coking coal imports from March-December, 2015 underscoring the absence for 10 months.
Following are details of coking coal imports through Ennore Port in January 2016:

In January, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 5,298 – Rs 6,116 ($79-91) per ton.
In February 2015 last, imports of the material via the port had taken place and the volume had been 72,200 tons and prior to that, 56,228 tons in January.
Overall, coal imports are coming down in India, because domestic production is increasing and end-user companies have stocked up.
