Coking coal imports via Kandla fall 78.29% m-o-m in Jan

February 25: Coking coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 11,500 tons in January 2014, down 78.29% from 52,970 tons in December, as per information available with ICMW.

The import of coking coal through the port during the first 10 months (April-January) of FY’14 stood at 278,872 tons against 282,479 tons during the same period last year.

Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Kandla:

In January 2014, 2,500 tons came from Australia at a price of Rs 10,925 ($176) per ton while 9,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,506-Rs 10,088 ($152-$162) per ton.

However, during December 2013, 46,470 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 9,501-Rs 11,119 ($153-$176) per ton while 6,500 tons came in from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,499-Rs 9,590 ($152) per ton.
