Coking coal imports via Kandla falls 3.3% in May

June 26: Coking coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 23,000 tons in May 2014, down 3.3% from 23,786 tons reported in April 2014, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal through the port during May 2013 stood at 14,307 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Kandla:

During May 2014, 20,500 tons of coking coal came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,667-Rs 9,838 ($128-$162) per ton whereas the rest of 2,500 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 9,651 ($161) per ton.
However, in April 2014, 20,286 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 9,708-Rs 10,308 ($161-$171) per ton 2,500 tons came in from Malaysia at a price of Rs 9,952 ($165) per ton whereas the remaining 1,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 9,764 ($161) per ton.
