Coking coal imports via Karaikal after a month’s gap

November 11: In October, coking coal imports through Karaikal Port stood at 36,712 tons, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
There were no imports of the material via this port during September. Total coal imports for the first seven months (April to October) of 2015-16 stood at 126,987 tons. The same figure for the corresponding period last year was not available.

In October 2015, the entire consignment came from Mozambique at Rs 6,582 ($99) per ton.
A small quantity of 62,685 tons of coking coal was imported through the port in August from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,940-Rs 7,270 ($108-$111) per ton.
