Coking coal imports via Kolkata down 42.28% m-o-m in Feb

March 7: Coking coal imports through the port of Kolkata Port dropped 42.28% to 237,738 tons in February 2014 against 411,952 tons reported in January of the same year, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With the February figures, total imports of the material during the first 11 months through this port were at 4,711,054 tons against 4,052,980 tons registered in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
Coking coal imports in February 2013 stood at 356,151 tons.
Total coking coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 4,411,727 tons.

In February 2014, coking coal imports included 193,381 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,115 – Rs 10,725 ($129-$170) per ton, 12,000 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 9,989 ($161), 2,530 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10,412 ($167) and the balance 29,827 tons from the United States in a price band of Rs 10,137 – Rs 10,301 ($161-$164) per ton.
In January 2014, 317,239 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,362 – Rs 10,959 ($134-$176) per ton, 74,713 tons from the US in a price range of 10,269 – Rs 10,676 (165-$170) per ton and the balance 20,000 from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10,412 ($167).
