Coking coal imports via Kolkata drop 36% m-o-m in Aug

September 25: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port dropped 35.62% to 270,442 tons in August 2014 against a volume of 420,076 tons reported in July, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In August 2013, coking coal imports were at 448,111 tons.
Coking coal imports for the first five months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 1,730,134 tons against 2,178,339 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In August, imports included 245,039 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,912 – Rs 8,301 ($113-136) per ton while the balance 25,403 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,841 ($129).
In July, imports comprised 401,469 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,674 – Rs 9,417 ($111-155) per ton and the balance 18,606 tons from New Zealand in a range of Rs 7,628 - Rs 7,699 ($126-128) per ton.
