Coking coal imports via Kolkata port dip 7.46% m-o-m in Aug

September 11: Coking coal imports through the port of Kolkata down 7.46% at 448,111 tons in August 2013 against 484,240 tons recorded in July 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
During the first five months of 2013-14, steam coal import through the port stood at 2,178,339 tons compared to 2,078,934 tons imported during 2012-13.
Coking coal imports in August 2012 stood at 622,987 tons.
Total coking coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 4,411,727 tons.

In August 2013, 396,032 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,830 – Rs 11,370 ($139-$177) per ton and 52,079 tons arrived from the US in a price range of Rs 9,433 – Rs 9,780 ($153-$159) per ton.
In July 2013, however, 374,188 tons came in from Australia in a price range of Rs 8,128 – Rs 13,743 ($134-$227) per ton, 31,524 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 14,532 – Rs 51,634 ($240-$886) per ton among others.
