Coking coal imports via Kolkata up 16.57% m-o-m in May

June 6: Coking coal imports through the port of Kolkata Port rose 16.57% to 344,001 tons in May 2014 against 295,084 tons reported in April, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In May 2013, coking coal imports were much higher, amounting to 518,754 tons.
Coking coal imports for the first two months of fiscal 2014-15 are at 639,085 tons while total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In May, coking coal imports comprised 247,982 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,480 - Rs 9,590 ($124-158) per ton, 17,246 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 9,646 ($159-160) per ton and the balance 78,773 tons from the US in a range of Rs 9,181 - Rs 13,203 ($153-220) per ton.
In April, 250,291 tons were imported from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,753 - Rs 9,844 ($126-162) per ton while the balance 44,793 tons arrived from New Zealand in a range of Rs 9,040 - Rs 9,672($149-160) per ton.
