Coking coal imports via Kolkata up 33% m-o-m in Sept

October 24: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port rose 32.97% to 359,609 tons in September 2014 against a volume of 270,442 tons in August, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In September 2013, coking coal imports were at 454,582 tons.
Coking coal imports for the first six months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 2,089,743 tons against 2,632,921 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In September, imports comprised 319,609 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 6,377 – Rs 8,301 ($103-134) per ton, while 20,000 tons each arrived from Canada at a unit price of Rs 8,104 ($133) and New Zealand at Rs 7,665 ($124)/ton.
In August, however, imports included 245,039 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,912 – Rs 8,301 ($113-136) per ton while the balance 25,403 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,841 ($129).
