Coking coal imports via Kolkata up 4.88% m-o-m in July

August 4: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port rose 4.88% to 420,076 tons in July 2014 against a volume of 400,531 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In July 2013, coking coal imports were at 484,240 tons.
Coking coal imports for the first four months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 1,459,692 tons against 1,730,228 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In July, imports comprised 401,469 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,674 – Rs 9,417 ($111-155) per ton and the balance 18,606 tons from New Zealand in a range of Rs 7,628 - Rs 7,699 ($126-128) per ton.
In June, imports included 357,923 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,329 – Rs 9,285 ($105-155) per ton, 41,277 tons from New Zealand in a price range of Rs 6,363 – Rs 7,699 ($106-127) per ton and 1,331 tons from the US at a unit price of Rs 13,206 ($221).
