Coking coal imports via Mormugao down 23.58% in June m-o-m

July 28: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao fell 23.58% to 409,996 tons in June 2014, against a quantum of 536,483 tons reported in May, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In June 2013, the volume of coking coal import through the port stood at nil.
In the first three months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal import through the port stood at 1,610,491 tons as against nil import recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In June 2014, 264,162 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,147-Rs 8,611 ($136-$143) per ton, 78,534 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 8,918 ($148) per ton while 67,300 tons came in from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,389 ($122) per ton.
On the other hand, in May 2014, 292,106 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,107-Rs 8,745 ($117-$144) per ton, 82,329 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,364 ($121) per ton, 84,415 tons came in from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,208-Rs 9,634 ($151-$158) per ton while 77,634 tons came in from South Africa at a price of Rs 6,167 ($101) per ton.
