Coking coal imports via Mormugao up 10% m-o-m

December 12: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao rose almost 10.19% to 460,830 tons in November 2014, against a quantum of 418,224 tons reported in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 512,314 tons.
In the first eight months (April-November) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 3,109,003 tons as against 2,010,984 tons recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During November 2014, 392,331 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,072-Rs 8,529 ($113-$138) per ton whereas the balance 68,499 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,502 ($121) per ton.
However, in October 2014, 346,174 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,969-Rs 9,168 ($128-$148) per ton whereas the balance 72,050 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,782 ($125) per ton.
