Coking coal imports via Mormugao up 52.05% in April m-o-m

May 23: Imports of coking coal via Mormugao Port stood at 664,011 tons during April 2014, up 52.05% from 436,714 tons imported in March, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During April 2013, however, coking coal imports via the port stood at nil.
Following are the month-wise coking coal imports via Mormugao Port during 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During April 2014, 535,962 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,914 - Rs 10,494 ($131-$174) per ton, 45,550 tons from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,217 - Rs 9,767 ($152-$162) per ton while the balance 82,499 tons came in from South Africa at a price of Rs 5,972 ($99) per ton.
However, in March 2014, 375,220 tons of coking coal came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,731 - Rs 10,569 ($141-$168) per ton while 61,494 tons arrived from Canada at a price of Rs 9,522 ($151) per ton.
