Coking coal imports via Mundra fall 72.73% m-o-m in Jan

February 17: Coking coal imports through Mundra Port during January 2014 fell almost 72.73% to 49,364 tons from 181,048 tons recorded in December 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In January 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 81,271 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through Mundra Port in the first 10 months (April-January) of 2013-14 stood at 924,566 tons against 1,182,828 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mundra port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In January 2014, the entire material came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,032-Rs 9,253 ($129-$147) per ton.
However, during December 2013, 176,048 tons came in from Australia in a price range of Rs 8,345-Rs 10,408 ($134-$167) per ton while 5,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 9,200 ($148) per ton.
