Coking coal imports via Mundra up 27.12% m-o-m in August

September 9: Coking coal imports through Mundra port during the month of August 2013 rose 27.12% to 75,000 tons from 59,000 tons recorded in July 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The total import of coking coal through Mundra port in the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 446,714 tons against 554,790 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mundra port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In August 2013, 50,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 7483-Rs 10,189 ($122-$156) per ton, 15,000 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 8499-Rs 9024 ($138) per ton while 10,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 5440-Rs 5471 ($88) per ton.
However, during July 2013, 44,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,829-Rs 9,433 ($113-$158) per ton, 10,000 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 10,411 ($172) per ton while 5,000 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 8,237 ($138) per ton.
