Coking coal imports via New Mangalore fall 49.27% in Dec m-o-m

January 8: Coking coal imports through the port of New Mangalore fell almost 49.27% in December 2013 to 49,755 tons compared to 98,087 tons in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of coking coal through the port during the first nine months (April-December) of FY'14 stood at 400,867 tons, up from 542,856 tons recorded in the corresponding period last year (April-December, 2012).
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

During December 2013, the entire quantity came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,568-Rs 11,115 ($105-$178) per ton.
However, in November 2013, 10,000 tons came from Australia within a price range of Rs 6,208-Rs 6,568 per ton, 21,000 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 9,605 ($152) per ton while 67,087 tons came from USA at a price of Rs 11,261 ($178) per ton.
