Coking coal imports via New Mangalore surge in Nov m-o-m

December 18: Coking coal imports through the port of New Mangalore jumped almost four times in November 2013 to 98,087 tons compared to 25,853 tons in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of coking coal import through the port during the first eight months (April-November) of FY’14 stood at 351,112 tons, up from 522,150 tons in the corresponding period last year (April-November, 2012).
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

In November 2013, 10,000 tons came from Australia within a price range of Rs 6,208-Rs 6,568 per ton, 21,000 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 9,605 ($152) per ton while 67,087 tons came from USA at a price of Rs 11,261 ($178) per ton.
However, during October 2013, the entire material came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6501-Rs 10,320 ($105-$106) per ton.
