Coking coal imports via New Mangalore up 7.41% in Jan m-o-m

March 04: Coking coal imports through the port of New Mangalore moved up 7.41% in January 2014 to 53,444 tons compared to 49,755 tons in December, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of coking coal through the port during the first ten months (April-January) of FY’14 stood at 454,311 tons, up from 563,562 tons recorded in the corresponding period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

In January 2014, 39,500 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,208-Rs 8,323 ($100-$133) per ton while 13,944 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 9,977 ($160) per ton.
However, during December 2013, the entire quantity came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,568-Rs 11,115 ($105-$178) per ton.
