Coking coal imports via Paradip down 19.56% in Dec m-o-m

January 27: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip dropped 19.56% to 628,181 tons in December 2013 against 780,965 tons reported in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first nine months of the current fiscal stood at 4,599,757 tons compared to 2,935,307 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

In December, 529,549 tons were imported from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,394 - Rs 10,738 ($133-$172) per ton, 58,632 tons arrived from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 9,837 - Rs 10,048 ($158-$159) per ton and the balance 40,000 came in from the US at a unit price of Rs 10,514 (169).
In November 676,600 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8670 - Rs 11,604 ($139-$184) per ton, 62,782 tons arrived from Canada at Rs 10,834 ($172) per ton among others.
