Coking coal imports via Paradip down 27.83% in Jan

February 10: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip dropped 27.83% to 453,321 tons in January 2014 against 628,181 tons posted in December 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of coking coke via the port during the first 10 months of the current fiscal stood at 5,053,078 tons compared to 3,551,290 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

In January, 387,528 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,362 – Rs 10,636 ($139 - $169) per ton, while the balance 65,793 tons came in from the United States in a range of Rs 10,209 – Rs 10,615 ($164-$169) per ton.
In December, however, 529,549 tons were imported from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,394 – Rs 10,738 ($133-$172) per ton, 58,632 tons arrived from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 9,837 – Rs 10,048 ($158-$159) per ton and the balance 40,000 came in from the US at a unit price of Rs 10,514 (169).
