Coking coal imports via Paradip drop 38.17% in May m-o-m

June 10: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip fell 38.17% to 332,659 tons in May 2014 as against a volume of 538,031 tons in April 2014 according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in May 2013 were at 513,624 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port during the first two months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 870,690 tons, from 784,614 tons of coking coal imported through the port during the same period of 2013-14.

In May 2014, 298,786 tons of coking coal arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,735 – Rs 9,167 ($112-$151) per ton and 33,873 tons of coking coal came from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 6,378 ($105).
In April, 463,449 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,254 – Rs 10,825 ($137-175) per ton, 30,572 tons came in from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 8,976 ($145) while the balance 44,010 tons arrived from the US in a band of Rs 9,456 –Rs 9,511 ($156) per ton.
