Coking coal imports via Paradip fall sharply in Sept m-o-m

October 10: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip fell largely to 9,571 tons in September 2013 against 767,992 tons recorded in August 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, during the first six months of FY'14, total coking coal imports via the port stood at 2,346,027 tons compared to 2,192,972 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

During September, the entire material came from Australia at a price range of Rs 14,829 - Rs 16,475 ($221-$245) per ton.
However, imports in August, 2013 included 707,363 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 7928 - Rs 12,459 ($129-$202) per ton, 47,396 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 9,576 ($161) and 13,233 tons arrived from the US for Rs 9,780 ($159) per ton.
