Coking coal imports via Paradip rise 2.71% in Feb m-o-m

March 21: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip rose marginally by 2.71% to 465,629 tons in February 2014 against volumes of 453,321 tons reported in January, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of coking coke via the port during the first 11 months of the current fiscal stood at 5,518,707 tons compared to 3,696,143 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

In February, coking coal imports comprised 352,141 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 10,409 – Rs 8,300 ($133-$165) per ton, 40,000 tons each from Austria and the US at a unit price of Rs 9,509 ($151) and Rs 9,992 ($159) respectively and the balance 33,488 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 9,118 ($145).
In January, 387,528 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,362 - Rs 10,636 ($139 - $169) per ton, while the balance 65,793 tons came in from the United States in a range of Rs 10,209 - Rs 10,615 ($164-$169) per ton.
