Coking coal imports via Paradip rise 33.04% in Oct m-o-m q

November 25: The imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip in October 2013 rose 33.04% to 487,630 tons against 366,525 tons recorded in September of the same year, according to revised provisional data for both the months available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of met coke via the port during the first seven months of the current fiscal stood at 3,190,611 tons compared to 2,354,487 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

In October 2013, 398,203 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,202-Rs 10,313 ($131-$165) per ton, 49,427 tons came in from the US in a price range of Rs 9,701-Rs 9,552 ($155-$154) per ton), while 40,000 tons arrived from another source at a unit price of Rs 9,185 ($148).
In September, however, 326,759 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 705-Rs 16,475 ($11-246) per ton while 39,766 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 9,895 ($155).
