Coking coal imports via Paradip rise a marginal 1.74% in July

August 28: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip rose marginally by 1.74% to 395,309 tons in July 2013 against 388,541 tons recorded in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, during the first four months of FY’14, total coking coal imports via the port stood at 1,568,464 tons compared to 1,523,731 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total coking coal imports in the last financial year of 2012-13 stood at 3,982,521 tons.

In July 2013, 354,775 tons arrived from Australia in a price range Rs 8,510 – Rs 16,620 ($144-$281) per ton, 7,534 tons arrived from New Zealand at Rs 688 ($12) per ton, 3,000 tons arrived from South Africa at Rs 5,484 ($91) per ton while 30,000 tons arrived from the US at Rs 9,478 ($159) per ton.
In June 2013, 355,541 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,341-Rs 11,316 ($151-$199) per ton while 33,000 tons came from the US at a price of Rs 12,829 ($232) per ton.
