September 20: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag down 34% at 322,327 tons in August 2013 against 490,558 tons, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, import of steam coal in the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 2,598,366 tons whereas the figure stood at 2,907,982 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

In August 2013, 262136 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,410 – Rs 11,175 ($120-$182) per ton, 49151 tons came from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 7,956 – Rs 10,622 ($122-$163) per ton and the balance from the US at a unit price of Rs 9,483 ($154) per ton.
In July 2013, 361,146 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,930–Rs 11,474 ($148-$190) per ton, 51,427 tons came in from New Zealand at a price range of Rs 11,218–Rs 11,474 ($185-$192) per ton, and 77,985 tons were imported from the US in a price range of Rs 9,411–Rs 9,618 ($156-$159) per ton.
