Coking coal imports via Vizag drop 33.67% in May m-o-m

June 11: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped 33.67% to 356,748 tons in May, 2014 against a volume of 537,897 tons as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In March, 2014, coking coal import volume through the port stood at 793,565 tons.
In May, 2013, coking coal import through Vizag Port stood at 616,391 tons.
In the first two months of the current financial year (2014-15) coking coal import through the port stood at 894,645 tons as against 1,313,152 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

Of the total coking coal import through the port in May 2014, 273,326 tons of coking coal was imported from Australia in a price range of Rs 7,366-Rs 9,628 ($123-$158) per ton, 34,518 tons from New Zealand at a unit price ranging between Rs 9,688-9,696 ($159 each) and 48,905 from US at a price band of Rs 9,365-Rs 9,412($154-$156).
In April, coking coal imports via this port comprised 389,958 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 5,922- Rs 9,796 ($97-159) per ton, 54,952 tons from Canada in a range of Rs 8,128–Rs 9,250 ($134-152) per ton, 2410 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 9,672 ($157) and 90,576 tons from the US in a band of Rs 9,405–Rs 9,451 ($155-156) per ton.
