Coking coal imports via Vizag drop 4.42% in Jan m-o-m

February 25: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped 4.42% to 551,374 tons in January 2014 against 576,887 tons reported in December 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first 10 months of 2013-14 stood at 5,268,589 tons against 5,474,292 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In January 2014, 383,191 tons arrived from Australia in a price brand of Rs 7,744 - Rs 10,740 ($124-$172), 29,465 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10,591 ($170) while 718,138 arrived from the US in a range of Rs 10,137 - Rs 10,677 (163-$171) per ton.
In December, 490,057 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,597 - Rs 10,942 ($122-$173) per ton, 78,627 tons arrived from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 7,691- Rs 10,578 ($123-$170) per ton and 8,203 tons came in from the US at a unit price of Rs 9,744 ($154).
