Coking coal imports via Vizag drop 6.98% in Oct m-o-m

November 25: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped 6.98% to 508,348 tons in October 2013 against 546,544 tons reported in September 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first seven months of 2013-14 stood at 3,653,258 tons against 3,946,268 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag port in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In October 2013, imports included 363,268 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,599 – Rs 10,559 ($122-$169) per ton, 51791 tons from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 9,468- Rs 9968 ($151-$160) per ton and the balance 93289 tons from the US in a price range of Rs 9,630 – Rs 9,901 ($155-$158) per ton
In September 2013, 472,492 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 8,374 – Rs 10,720 ($131-$168) per ton, 28,052 tons arrived from New Zealand in a price range of Rs 8,157 – Rs 10,891 ($122-$163) per ton and the balance 46,000 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 10,383 ($163).
