Coking coal imports via Vizag drop marginal 1.57% in Feb m-o-m

March 12: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag rose a marginal 1.57% to 560,072 tons in February 2014 against 551,374 tons reported in January, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first 11 months of 2013-14 stood at 5,828,661 tons against 5,802,668 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

In February 2014, coking coal imports included 479,820 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,081 – Rs 10,598 ($97 - $168) per ton, 31,127 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 9,276 ($147) and the balance 49,125 tons from the US in a price band of Rs 10,137 – Rs 10,158 ($161) per ton.
In January 2014, 383,191 tons arrived from Australia in a price brand of Rs 7,744 – Rs 10,740 ($124-$172), 29,465 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10,591 ($170) while 718,138 arrived from the US in a range of Rs 10,137 – Rs 10,677 (163-$171) per ton.
