December 10: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped 4.18% to 487,070 tons in November 2013 against 508,348 tons reported in October 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first eight months of 2013-14 stood at 4,140,328 tons against 4,481,131 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

In November 2013, 434,337 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,394 – Rs 10,907 ($117-$172) per ton, 2,051 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10,113 ($160), 50,681 tons arrived from the US in a price band of Rs 9,631 – Rs 9,713 ($153) per ton.
In October 2013, however, imports included 363,268 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,599 – Rs 10,559 ($122-$169) per ton, 51,791 tons from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 9,468- Rs 9,968 ($151-$160) per ton and the balance 93,289 tons from the US in a price range of Rs 9,630 – Rs 9,901 ($155-$158) per ton.
