Coking coal imports via Vizag up 18.44% in Dec m-o-m

January 7: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag rose 18.44% to 576,887 tons in December 2013 against 487,070 tons reported in November 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first nine months of 2013-14 stood at 4,717,215 tons against 4,867,484 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag port in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In December, 490,057 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,597 - Rs 10,942 ($122-$173) per ton, 78,627 tons arrived from new Zealand in a price band of Rs 7,691 - Rs 10,578 ($123-$170) per ton and 8,203 tons came in from the US at a unit price of Rs 9,744 ($154).
In November 2013, however, 434,337 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,394 - Rs 10,907 ($117-$172) per ton, 2,051 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 10113 ($160), 50,681 tons arrived from the US in a price band of Rs 9,631 - Rs 9,713 ($153) per ton.
