March 5: Spot coking coal prices softened further on low demand from China and other major buying countries as steel demand continued to remain depressed, industry sources said.
Branded coking coal, which was quoted at a high of around $126 per ton FOB, fell to $119.50 per ton on March 4 whereas premium coking coal fell from $125 per ton FOB to $117.50 on March 4.
Steam coal prices, on the other hand, remained stable, with offer rates surging in anticipation of higher enquiries, they added.
