The absence of Chinese buying on account of the Qingming festival affected steam coal price movements on April 4, but coking coal spurted on speculative offers amidst limited deals, sources said.
Coking coal had surged sharply largely on account of higher offers, but buyers were delaying procurement in anticipation that prices should soften, they said.
ICMW had reported on March 31, quoting Gerard McCloskey, coking coal prices might spurt in the coming days on account of an equilibrium attained in demand and supply.
