Colombia July thermal coal exports fall 14% year on year to 6.29 mt

Colombian thermal coal exports for July dropped 14% year on year to 6.295 million mt following a fall in shipments to Brazil, the Netherlands and the UK, data from Colombian shipping agent Deep Blue showed.
The July exports were up 4% from June.
Exports to the Netherlands in July fell to their lowest monthly volume this year, down 38% year on year to 715,624 mt and down 37% month on month.
Coal destined for the UK tumbled 79% year on year to 104,218 mt, which was down 1% month on month, while shipments to Brazil decreased 52% year on year to 305,948 mt, up 25% month on month.
Turkey was the main receiver of Colombian coal in July at 977,454 mt, up 2% from the same month last year and down 11% from June, and followed by Israel, which saw volumes increase 4% year on year and more than double on the month to 831,565 mt.
Exports from Puerto Bolivar, owned by Colombia's largest miner Cerrejon, fell 6% year on year to 3.174 million mt, up 27% from June to the highest monthly volume since March.
Puerto Drummond exports fell 21% year on year to 2.034 million mt, rising 15% month on month.
Puerto Nuevo, owned by Glencore unit Prodeco, shipped 961,659 mt of thermal coal in July, down 25% year on year and 24% month on month.
Shipments from third-party port Carbosan-Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta fell 8% year on year to 124,682 mt and dropped 74% month on month.
The monthly July average for Platts FOB Colombia 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal price was $52.34/mt, down from $53.25/mt in June.
The weekly FOB Colombia 6,000 kcal/kg NAR price was last assessed at $50.20/mt last Friday, 70 cents/mt lower week on week.
In July, Colombian coking coal exports dropped 73% year on year to 50,401 mt, Deep Blue data showed.
Coke exports fell 68% year on year to 23,726 mt.
