Dec coal handling by 15 ports down 8% m-o-m

January 30: Total coal handling by 15 major and minor Indian ports during the month of December 2014 fell by 7.98% as compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 11,635,063 tons of coal was handled by the above ports during the month of December 2014 as compared to 12,643,890 tons handled by the same number of ports in November 2014, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (December 2013) total coal handling by these ports stood higher at 10,607,609 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during 2014-15 stood at 102,220,711 tons while the figure stood at 96,018,304 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a compilation by ICMW.
Following are the details of coal handling by various ports in December 2014, December 2013, April-December 2014 and April-December 2013 (In tons):
