Dec coking coal imports via Vizag up 86% m-o-m

January 15: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag increased 85.76% to 787,992 tons in December 2014 against 424,193 tons reported in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2013, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood at 576,887 tons.
With this, in the first nine months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 3,968,467 tons against a volume of 4,717,215 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In December, imports included 621,007 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 6,297 – Rs 8,730 ($99-137) per ton, 88,917 tons from the US in a band of Rs 8,481 – Rs 8,624 ($133-138) per ton, 33,723 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 8,010 ($125-128) and 44,345 tons from Canada in a band of Rs 7,068 – Rs 8,198 ($113-131) per ton.
In November, imports included 388,443 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 6,516 – Rs 8,297 ($105-133) per ton while the balance 35,750 tons came from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,623 ($122) per ton.
