Dec steam coal imports via Paradip spurt 96.90% m-o-m

January 27: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip rose 96.90% to 824,988 tons in December 2013 against a level of 418,980 tons achieved in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports through the port during the first nine months of FY'14 stood at 5,109,683 tons against 6,111,569 tons reported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In December, 824,839 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,670-Rs 5,425 ($42-$87) per ton while the balance 149 tons arrived from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,360 ($102).
In November, however, 376,831 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2616 - Rs 35,224 ($41-$558) per ton while 42,149 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 4,589 ($73).
