December PCI imports via Vizag spurt m-o-m

January 15: A much higher volume of 118,597 tons of PCI coal was imported through Vizag Port in December 2014 against a meagre 6,306 tons in November, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2013, PCI coal imports through Vizag Port stood much lower at 5,444 tons.
On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for the first nine months of the current fiscal stood at 425,858 tons while the same for the previous fiscal were at 348,430 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and through 2014-15:

In November, 84,924 tons arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 6,409 – 6,563 ($110-103) per ton, a single consignment of 32,573 tons arrived from Canada at a unit price of Rs 6,689 ($107) and a single consignment of 1,100 tons arrived from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,648 ($106).
In November, a single consignment arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 6,500 ($104).
